Mary Ann Romans

July 29, 1939-October 6, 2025

MaryAnn Romans (Dierks) passed away peacefully at home in Omaha, Nebraska, on October 6, 2025.  She was born on July 29, 1939, to Henry and Mary Dierks in Atkinson, Nebraska, the seventh of eight children.

Mary Ann grew up on the family farm, where she developed a deep appreciation of nature from an early age.  She loved all kinds of animals, a trait that she carried with her through her whole life.  When she was not spending time with her golden retrievers, she loved to watch birds in her bird feeders or squirrels running through the yard.

From a young age, Mary Ann was unafraid to share her vibrant spunk with the world, and could often be found on adventures with her brothers and sisters, especially her younger sister Janet.  They were lifelong best friends and moved to Omaha together after high school.

In Omaha, Mary Ann went to work at Rosen-Novak, where she met the love of her life, Ron Romans.  Ron and Mary Ann married in 1974 and went on to raise two sons, Steve and Bill, and MaryAnn’s daughter Pam.  They spent 50 wonderful years together prior to her passing.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mary; her brothers: Owen (Donnie) Dierks, Dean (June) Dierks, Justin (Marilyn) Dierks, Hank (Mary) Dierks, her sisters, Amy (Keith) Jones, Ethel (Lyle) Slaymaker; and her daughter, Pam.

Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Ron Romans; sister, Janet Gereau; her sons, Steven (Jen) Romans, Bill (Wendy) Romans; grandsons, Gage (Madeline) Romans, Blaine Romans, granddaughter, Shelby (Kyle) Jensen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
